In 1996, Magnolia Bakery opened its doors on a quaint corner in the heart of the West Village at 401 Bleecker Street.
Founded by Jennifer Appel and Allysa Torey, the bakery was born from a shared love for baking and a vision of offering traditional American desserts with a homemade touch.

Magnolia Bakery's path to fame took a defining turn in 2001 with a brief, serendipitous appearance in Sex and the City.
In Season 3, Episode 5, Carrie Bradshaw and Miranda Hobbes are seen savoring vanilla cupcakes with pink buttercream frosting on a bench outside the bakery.
This now-iconic scene introduced the world to Magnolia and the “Carrie Cupcake,” sparking international interest and making Magnolia Bakery a must-visit spot for fans and tourists alike.
